Our Wii Me(s)

Even my Wii me blinks when my/her/its picture is taken!   There our family is in Nintendo format, even the dog.  I realize I'm a few years off the cutting edge here, but this thing is so freakin' fun!  I know I've posted quite a bit about video games lately, but, besides work misery and the absolute adorableness of Little Miss, I've not had much else.

We did, after at least four years of saying we should, try Willie and Dick's after gymnastics tonight.  That seems a rather suggestive sentence.  A whole in the wall seafood/burger joint we pass every time we come home from the eastern environs.  Edward had the fried shrimp--deeelicious,  with a very light batter.  Coleslaw was lacking flavor.  French fries greasy-limp.  Good marks for the  hushpuppies--even though I don't consider the stick variety my favorite, they were still good.  Loved the tartar sauce--very mayo-y.  I had the shrimp po-boy.  Seafood sauce tangy, too much lettuce, needed pickles, but one of the best I've had in a while.  I can't judge the cheeseburgers, since Anne was adamantly NOT sharing.  And it's hard to judge since she'll only eat them plain and dry.  Edward was put off by, and concerned about, the ketchup.  He said he tasted alcohol, like the tomato had fermented.  I got more of a vinegarish taste.  Ketchup wine...hmm.

Yippee for Wii

After a lot of coaxing, we finally got Little Miss on the balance board and playing.  The voice that takes you through registering on the Fit board thingy, in her words, "freaks me out!"  So did the answering machine, and that was Edward's voice.  Anywho, it was unbearably adorable watching her flail side to side with the slalom skiing game.  Quite a few bounces into the fence, as above.  Not that I'm bragging about my video-athletic ability.  It took me almost twenty times last night to just get make it all the way down without missing any of the flag thingies.  Next up is getting Mom's up and running.  Let the hilarity begin!  For sure my favorite Christmas toy.

A pink guitar

The seriously, finally, it's over and done LAST Christmas present!  "Aunt" Toni was out of town for the holidays and our schedules just had not been lining up--but the stars were in alignment tonight.  And what a hit!  A REAL guitar with a "gig bag" and everything--even has her name on it.

Aunt Toni is sporting the Minnie Mouse clippy-ears that she brought from Disneyland.  Anne couldn't stop rockin' out long enough to hold still for them.  Top it off with dinner at Don "K-Ayala's" and a good time was had by all.  MMMMMenchiladas.  I'm about to figure out how many points I ate, so I'll post while I'm still in a good mood.

Good mood was not the rule of the day for me.  We're grinding through finals starting today.  Ugh.  Our schedule is crazy mixed up and it makes me realize what a creature of habit I am.  And how bitchy I get when said schedule is out of whack.  I think I scared Edward right out of his cold/sinus infection funk when I stormed in the door.  I'll go scratch his back and offer sympathy for his sniffles now.

Always be prepared...

Is it strange that this is a momento from our "elopement" to Las Vegas?  It seems right, and perhaps prophetic, in the most romantic way.  Civilization lies in ruin, just my Loverboy and me...and the cockroaches.  I think it would look something like this:

Our "office" as it looks at the moment.  Is it too late for another resolution?  Anyone want to turn us in to Oprah's organizing gurus--as long as they bring the $ for the project.  I envision a crafting/creating room with fabric swatch design boards and hundreds of organic recycled markers and pencils in tidy jars with colorful graphics.  And space for his and hers and little hers superfancysmancy computers...Maybe Oprah would just give us a bigger house, too.

A Sunday

Slept in,  took a nap, dismantled a good deal of the holiday look (sooo much more to go), and have been generally blah.  In a good blah way.  The biggest accomplishment of the day--going "pro" on Wii bowling.  I suppose I have simplified my joy.  Frequent cups of hot tea have also been bringing me joy.  You know it's a serious Texas cold snap when I forsake the nectar of the gods, iced tea,  for the finger warming hot variety.

I know very little about tea.  This was in my price range at WallyWorld and I like the pyramid bags.  And pomegranate/blueberry sounded yummy.  I'm also feeling self-conscious about my pictures after reading this.

Me and my gal

It was a girls day at home today.  Minor Christmas pack-up was accomplished, then motivation gave out.  A nap was called for...and...wait for it...accomplished!  By mama anyway.  Thank you, Santa, for the Legos and the 45 minutes of attention they can hold!

An art project seemed called for, so we broke out the new stamps and went to town on some brown paper bags.  Wrapping for this years' birthdays, perhaps?  Note:  we are not big on glamour for a day at home...or even brushing hair.

I kept trying to ignore repeated (and repeated, and repeated...) requests to make cupcakes.  Finally, I decided to stop saying "no."  What harm was there in just making some cupcakes?  Weigh in at Weight Watchers on Monday comes to mind, but box mix cupcakes with canned icing--I can resist.  And she will, too, and I'll end up tossing them out next weekend.  But, hey, go with it.  Now, if I were having to face down the luciousness that can be found at Cakespy, that'd be something different.

Continued postponement of bathtime was also a big theme.  Gaming was the bait, and I couldn't resist.  Lurking in my closet was Penguin Pictureka game that was forgotten Christmas Eve the winter fairie meant to leave in Anne's room.  (Don't worry, winter fairie, Eagle Eye found it while "helping" me put up Christmas decorations.)  Then there was an air hockey challenge. And who can say no to a challenge from a four-almost-five-year-old?  Not this mama.  Apparently, all the girls in our house l-o-o-o-o-v-e air hockey.

I don't count this game as a loss.  It was two against one.  We could NOT keep Emily away!  She was batting away at the puck, barking, blocking.  AND she scored against me!  Not fair, I say, not fair.

Then there was a request for pigtails for bedtime.  There was an easy one to say "yes" to.

There really are two pigtails there.

An all around nice day.  Give and take was the rule.  Anne:  art project, cupcakes, games, hairdo.  Mama:  nap and all the greens beans eaten at dinner .  Victory!

Pizza and bingo party!

This deliciousness was handcrafted by my Loverboy from crust to finish.  Decidedly NOT diabetes- or Weight Watchers- friendly,  but g-o-o-d!  Followed by family game night.  We're currently big on bingo.

When that got old, and we'd scratched off the lottery tickets I picked up for prizes, we hit the Wii.  Little Miss is a Million Dollar Baby boxer!  Edward carried the victory in bowling.

I'm looking forward to more of this for the rest of this cold weekend.  Along with Christmas removal, of course....And birthday party planning--dog theme this year.  No surprise.
