It was AP field trip day today! The exact same game plan as the last 8 years I've been involved, but a good time none the less. The Sixth Floor Museum--I'm glad to say no students were hit by the very quiet DART trains and none of the brainiacs were killed trying to stand on the "x marks the spots" on the street in front of the building. Seriously, every year some little ghoul wants a picture taken on the spot where Kennedy was shot. Never mind it is in the middle of very busy street in downtown Dallas. It does often feel like we've taken Ma and Pa Kettle's children to the big city.
SaraBeth and TanyaLou were kind enough to help chaperone the big event. We never seem to get the same people to go consecutive years...draw your own conclusions. We had a fun group this time, though. So maybe the fun sisters will ride with us again. The usual lunch at Spaghetti Warehouse in the West End then over to the Dallas Museum of Art.
Would this be just a tad too much for my house? And I wish I had the ceiling height for this:
This was probably the best time we've had at the DMA--until a DMA employee got snitty about the number of kids in the (ridiculously overpriced) gift shop. There was apparently "too much browsing and not enough buying" so we had to skedaddle, much to no one's disappointment. The Kimball, Carter and Modern in Fort Worth have better, more focused collections and better gift shops to boot. Shnah.
While in Dealy Plaza, I took a picture the old courthouse--which my father had me convinced was a "witch's castle" when I was little.
I had a lengthy post filled with pictures of the Easter celebrations--but blogger was bugging out so I swore and closed the whole shebang at 11:30 last night. Too cute not to mention though--Little Miss and Lolly got the Barbie mermaid DVD, mermaid skirts and wigs (among so, so much more) in their Easter baskets. The wigs were especially a hit:
Poor Lolo wasn't able to rip it off as quickly as the older girls, so I got a picture of her in it. As well as...
my (already blonde) sister-in-law and...
my dashing little brother. A very good time.
