MLK Holiday-not so much...

The kids were out today, but for us drones it was a workday.  We had a "mandatory" celebration.  Let that sink in for a moment.  A real "I Have A Dream" moment was the graduation gown garbed math department's (all white) call and response "sermon" on how great they are going to do on the TAKS this year.  I wonder if anyone else made the connection.  The "choir's" call to the department head to "preach on", etc...I don't know...made me a tad uncomfortable.  But who am I to pooh-pooh someone else's irreverance?

Then I spent my afternoon preparing a (required) chart for all my students--race (I like the irony of the day), previous TAKS scores, ESL, SPED, at-risk, blah, blah, blah.  Where did I get all this information you ask.  From the student attendance program that the school district provides.  Let that sink in for a moment.  We, every core teacher, must fill in a chart on every one of our students with information that the district already has accumulated in one place.

On a lighter note, literally, I am lighter.  7.2 pounds in the last two weeks (clap, clap, clap).  Note that we haven't started Project Croissant, yet.  And I may be in real danger now that I own both of these...
